Job Description

The Robert C. Byrd Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing (RCBI), West Virginia’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center is accepting resumes for an Education and Outreach Coordinator for the Sprouting Farms project.

Duties: The successful candidate will join a highly motivated, statewide team to oversee the Apprenticeship, Incubator, and Mentor Farms programs of Sprouting Farms. The Education Director is responsible for developing, managing, and monitoring training and education plans for apprentices, coordinating the education programming with partners, land and resource access for apprentices, facilitating relationships and coordinating mentor farms, and performing outreach about the program and training opportunities to the community. The Education Director will also coordinate programing with project partners and service providers and work with the Production Manager to communicate and help with production planning for the participants. They will be responsible to work with project partners to assemble and tailor apprenticeship curriculum, schedule courses and perform other duties as assigned.
Location: Position will be housed in southern WV at the Sprouting Farms site. The farm site is rustic and working conditions may include performing farm related activities, working in unconditioned office space, implementing programming in a barn loft, and traveling to mentor farms across the Greenbrier Valley.

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree with equivalent experience is required. Two years’ experience in successful management experience including supervision of staff or volunteers, management of finances, and interactions with clients. Experience working with employees and/or volunteers. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to successfully recruit individuals for apprenticeship program and outreach visits to partners is essential. The successful candidate must have the ability to work as part of the statewide RCBI team. Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in a farm environment. Proficiency using online resources/social media is required.
